Belgians have dispatched more than 72 million New Year's sms

Despite the big flow of text messages, their handling and transfer was produced with the minimum delays.

Inhabitants of Belgium have dispatched in the first night 2013 over 72 million sms-congratulations, have reported local mass-media on Tuesday.


The population of Belgium totals a little more than 11 million persons.

According to four Belgian telephone operators (Proximus, Mobistar and KPN Group Belgium/BASE and Telenet), despite the big flow of text messages, their handling and transfer was produced with the minimum delays.

In 2011 on New Year's Eve inhabitants of Belgium have sent record quantity of a congratulatory sms-messages — over 113 million.
