Pensioners in Spain for more than 9 million

The gradual aging of the Spanish population has increased the number of pensioners, which the Fund pays a monthly Social Insurance pension, to a historic high. In January, the figure exceeded nine million people.



The increase in the number of pensioners has led to the fact that the amount of the Fund for the payment of pensions, in January increased by 4.8%, despite the fact that the Government has decided not to index the payments in line with inflation.

Due to this situation, taking into account the continuing rise in unemployment, social insurance Spain closed in 2012 with the largest deficit ever since ceased to be funded from its funds health care costs.

According to data released this morning by the Ministry of Labour of Spain, on January 1, 2013 the number of pensioners in Spain amounted to 9,008,348 people, up from the previous period to 1.5%. Of the total number of Spanish pensioners retirement pension on January 1 this year received 5,402,963 people.

As for the amount of pension payments, the costs of this article in January increased by 4.8% to 7 billion 653 million euros.
